Introduction to Sandtray therapy
Sandtray therapy is an evidenced based expressive therapy technique. Sandtray is an effective approach for working with children, teens, and adults. It is most often used for clients dealing with trauma, but is not limited to trauma clients. This introductory workshop will use a mixture of lecture, video case presentation, and role-play. Participants will earn 4 Contact APT CEU’s.
Introduction to Sandtray Therapy
Sandtray play therapy is an evidence based expressive therapy that is often utilized for individuals who have experienced trauma or attachment injuries. While this is the most common use for sandtray play therapy, it is not limited to these presenting problems. Sandtray play therapy has been shown to be an effective way to encourage non-verbal communication when the client is has difficulty expressing their concerns.
Using sandtray appropriately, is an effective tool for any therapist. However, for the play therapist, it can be an essential, and powerful addition to their treatment repertoire.
Participants
This training is for psychologists, social workers, counselors, school counselors, psychiatrists, family therapists, and other experienced professionals who work with children and families.
In order to ensure quality education, each training will be capped at 15 participants, with a minimum of 4 participants. If the training fills up, your name/registration will be added to a waitlist in case there are any cancellations.
Learning Objectives
When participants are finished, they will:
- Have an understanding of the history of sandtray play therapy.
- Understand the role of a sandtray play therapist.
- Demonstrate the use of sandtray language principles.
- Understand the use of sandtray figures.
Cancellation Policy
Due to the nature of preparing this training and the materials required for this training, $25 of the registration fee is nonrefundable. Registrations are on a first-come-first-served basis. Fees include 4 hours of training, snacks, and supervision. Written cancellations received 4+ weeks prior to the training will receive the balance of the fees refunded. Cancellations received within 4 weeks of the training will forfeit a total of $50, with the remainder being refunded. Unfortunately, refunds cannot be given within the final week leading up to the training.
In the unlikely event that the training is cancelled by the presenter, a full refund will be provided, or credit will be applied toward future training’s; whichever the registrant chooses.
