Whole Family Therapy
Whole Family Therapy is a dying art, and I’m on a mission to rejuvenate and re-utilize this important, evidence based approach to mental health treatment. Recently, psychiatrists have embraced a systemic method of medical and mental health treatment. They call this method the Vermont Family Based Approach. The research on this approach has demonstrated significant physical and mental health benefits. Family Systems Therapists who embrace a whole family therapy approach may be able to bring this approach to the Magic Valley to make a significant positive impact on the mental health of our community. The more mental health providers that can offer this approach the better it will be for our community and our clients.
On November 10, 2021, I presented a webinar on Whole Family Therapy to the annual international conference of Systemic Family Therapy for the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). I re-presented this webinar to the Idaho Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (IDAMFT) on May 27, 2022.
