Overview

Clinical supervision is a great way to contribute to the growing mental health field. Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Social Workers in Idaho face a dearth of clinical supervisors. This workshop fulfills the minimum requirements for all of the clinical professions in Idaho.

DOPL Rules Relevant to Each Profession

  • Social Workers:
    • IDAPA 24.14.01.002(03): “A clinical social worker who has been licensed for at least two (2) years, has not been disciplined for acts relating to client care within the past five (5) years, and has completed fifteen (15) hours of clinical supervision training.”
    • The Idaho Social Work Board DOES NOT approve CE courses (see here). They just have to be “germane to the practice of social work” (IDAPA 24.14.01.100(05)).
    • NOTE: Dr. Whitehead is submitting this course for NASW approval. Updates will be posted here.
  • Counselors and MFT’s –
    • IDAPA 24.15.01.200.02(b): “To become an approved supervisor, be licensed as a Clinical Professional Counselor or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, document a minimum of fifteen (15) contact hours of relevant education in supervisor training…”
    • The Idaho Counselor and MFT Board DOES NOT approve CE courses (see here). They just have to be “germane to the practice for which the license is issued” (24.15.01.425.(01)).

Who is This Workshop For?

This workshop is for all Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Social Workers in the state of Idaho who meet the minimum requirements for being a clinical supervisor except for the 15 hour course. It is each clinicians independent responsibility to verify their eligibility for becoming an approved supervision by examining their own board rules.
